No mirrors in the Olympus E-system within two years time
The Olympus E system of Four Thirds cameras is likely to be completely mirrorless in two years time, according to Olympus America’s DSLR product manager.
“I would say that within 24 months the E system will not have a mirror box at all.’ Pelkowski said, ‘Up until we launched the Pen cameras all manufacturers were doing was fitting a digital sensor in what is ultimately a film camera body – there was nothing different. But with digital and electronic technology we can make cameras so much smaller.”

Olympus PEN E-PL1
The OLYMPUS PEN E-PL1 is the third model in the OLYMPUS PEN series of Micro Four Thirds System interchangeable lens digital cameras.
It’s predecessors, the OLYMPUS PEN E-P1 and E-P2, introduced last year, were widely acclaimed for their light, compact form, distinctive design, and superior image quality.
Featuring a new interface specifically designed to be more friendly to compact camera users, the new E-PL1 is an entry-level model that makes PEN series photographic quality accessible to an even wider range of consumers than before.
In addition to delivering high-quality photos with full-auto ease, the E-PL1 features a new Live Guide interface that makes it easy for users to exercise their creativity. With the Live Guide, even users who have only used point-and-shoot cameras can easily and intuitively adjust brightness, hue, background defocusing, and other image parameters—and get the results they want without learning a lot of SLR-class photographic techniques.
Light, compact, Micro Four Thirds System design and a built-in flash assure an easy transition for first-time interchangeable lens camera users. A choice of white, champagne gold, and black body colors are also being offered to suit a broader range of customer preferences.
New features include a dedicated Movie mode button that enables 720p HD movie recording at a moment’s notice, and i-ENHENCE Picture mode (originally introduced on the E-P2), which delivers images with exceptional clarity and heightened realism that fully communicate the excitement of the moment. Six Art Filters are also offered, including a new Gentle Sepia filter, and they can be applied to movies as well as still-image shooting. Like the E-P2, the E-PL1 is equipped with an accessory port that can be used to attach a high-definition VF-2 Live Viewfinder or SEMA-1 Stereo Microphone Set 1.
For imaging, a 4/3-inch, 12.3-megapixel high speed Live MOS Sensor and TruePic V image processing engine assure quality that rivals that of advanced digital SLR systems.
Moving forward, Olympus will continue to expand its Micro Four Thirds System product lineup, and the growing market that it serves.

New shoulder bag…
I just bought a new shoulder bag, the Olympus / LowePro (Stealth Reporter) bag. The bag have room for 1-2 Pro-SLR camera housings, 5-6 Optics, Pro-flash system and various additional accessories. The size (40,5×23x28cm) it’s as the Stealth Reporter D550 AW. This bag has the Olympus E-System logo on it, and that is what I wanted since I’m an Olympus guy
I also bought one more CF card, the SanDisk Extreme CF 60MB/s 8.0 GB, and as usually I did my online shopping at Vefafoto.dk, the best place to buy camera equipment online in Denmark.
All twelve header photos
All twelve header photos are taken near to where I live. Some are taken in Dyrehaven, one of my favorite places to enjoy the wild life and the nature, other are taken in Copenhagen Zoo and in Tivoli. (more…)
Olympus E-3 successor…

Olympus E-3
Last news from the 43rumors.com website regarding the Olympus E-3 successor, and I quote…
Since weeks we try to get some more infos about the long awaited E-3 successor. We received rumors from here and there and only now we are getting an idea what’s happening. Remember this are rumors only and not official Olympus news. We have no affiliation with Olympus and read our disclaimer at the bottom of the left sidebar if you need to understand what the word “rumors” means.
At the beginning of the year we thought to know the E-3 successor will be unveiled at the end of 2009. It should be an upgraded E-3 camera. Now our sources told us that the huge MicroFourThirds success may has changed their roadmap. Of course there will be an E-3 successor but the release may has been postponed. Probably there will be NO! E-3 successor this year. One new source said “this will be a complete new developed camera“. A trusted source told us that “the E-5 will be a revolutionary camera, not just an E-3 evolution“. Anyway all sources do confirm that Olympus will continue their engadgment in classic FourThirds cameras and lenses.

Olympus Pen
Olympus is about to launch their retro camera, the Olympus Pen E-P1.
In 1959, Olympus designed a camera with the photographic optics of an SLR and the size and simplicity of a point-and-shoot revolutionizing the way we take pictures and now after 50 years, the PEN is back.
The new PEN provides superior optics, interchangeable lenses and multimedia capabilities—and combines the creative freedom of a sophisticated digital SLR with the simple controls and small size of a point-and-shoot. (more…)
