No mirrors in the Olympus E-system within two years time
The Olympus E system of Four Thirds cameras is likely to be completely mirrorless in two years time, according to Olympus America’s DSLR product manager.
“I would say that within 24 months the E system will not have a mirror box at all.’ Pelkowski said, ‘Up until we launched the Pen cameras all manufacturers were doing was fitting a digital sensor in what is ultimately a film camera body – there was nothing different. But with digital and electronic technology we can make cameras so much smaller.”

The E-3 successor…
Here are the last new rumours regarding the Olympus E-3 successor
Colorfoto.de asked Olympus Germany if they are planning to soon release the E-3 successor:
“…Olympus Germany said to colorfoto.de, there is still no definite timetable for the introduction of a possible follow-up model. For the foreseeable future the E-3 will remain the top model…” and “…In any case, Olympus also confirmed that they will continue to develop the E-system parallel to the Micro Four Thirds system.”

Suisse E-5 rumors…
“At a Oly event in Switzerland Olympus employee mentioned the following specs for the Olympus E-3 successor: higher resolution, high-resolution display, a new AF module, more FPS, better Viewfinder. The E-3 successor will be settled a class above the E-3 …”

Olympus E-3 successor…

Olympus E-3
Last news from the 43rumors.com website regarding the Olympus E-3 successor, and I quote…
Since weeks we try to get some more infos about the long awaited E-3 successor. We received rumors from here and there and only now we are getting an idea what’s happening. Remember this are rumors only and not official Olympus news. We have no affiliation with Olympus and read our disclaimer at the bottom of the left sidebar if you need to understand what the word “rumors” means.
At the beginning of the year we thought to know the E-3 successor will be unveiled at the end of 2009. It should be an upgraded E-3 camera. Now our sources told us that the huge MicroFourThirds success may has changed their roadmap. Of course there will be an E-3 successor but the release may has been postponed. Probably there will be NO! E-3 successor this year. One new source said “this will be a complete new developed camera“. A trusted source told us that “the E-5 will be a revolutionary camera, not just an E-3 evolution“. Anyway all sources do confirm that Olympus will continue their engadgment in classic FourThirds cameras and lenses.

Just got my new Manfrotto Panorama head
The 300N panoramic rotation unit allows the photographer to take sequential constant-angle shots around a single axis, an essential part of achieving accurate and easy-to-stitch panoramic compositions. The set positions of the 300N give ample choice of rotation angle and so of number of photos needed to complete a 360° pan and cover the most common requests of panoramic photographers depending on the camera/lens equipment used. To make angle selection easier, a “click-stop” selector screw is included and attached to a safety cable to prevent it from being separated from the head and getting lost. The 300N also comes complete with a secondary locking screw which stops unwanted or accidental rotation of the head when heavy or off-centre equipment makes it less balanced or when the head is used for non-horizontal rotation. The 300N can also be used as a turntable base for object panoramas, or as a means of reading the angle of rotation of camera pan movements in a range of photography. A camera can be mounted on the panoramic unit by adding one of a range of quick release, sliding or fixed plates or a conventional geared, ball or 3-way head. 303N Features:
Upper dual graduated scale to set the angle of rotation to any of the following: 90°, 60°, 45°, 36°, 30°, 24°, 20°, 15°, 10°, 5° (respectively equivalent to 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 24, 36 or 72 photos to achieve a full 360° rotation based on 35mm film frames or 24×36mm CCD).
Lower graduated scale from 0° to 360°.
3/8″ female tripod fitting; 3/8″ male screw head or plate fitting.
